It’s a sentiment I’ve encountered before which claims that saving dogs involves equal parts heartache and relief, which I find to be a rather precise summation.
The initial encounter with a forsaken or homeless animal is truly heartbreaking, as one realizes the extent of canine suffering and wishes to assist every one of them.
The other half of the equation is the soothing sense of relief when witnessing a rescued pup finally out of harm’s way and looking forward to a new life with a loving family.

A Beagle Bursting With Happiness
In the current era, it’s alarmingly routine for many pet owners to relinquish their companions for euthanasia due to the soaring costs of medical care.
Gregory the Beagle faced a similar plight until Joe Kirk intervened, preventing the scheduled euthanasia just two days shy of execution. Joe and his spouse, Schenley, are proprietors of Hound Rescue and Animal Sanctuary, a charitable entity based out of Findlay, Ohio, devoted to rehoming neglected creatures and offering foster care to older, less adoptable dogs.
In a Facebook post, Schenley expressed: Gregory is one grateful Beagle! He is AWARE he’s been rescued!
Despite his Heartworm condition, he’s now undergoing treatment, confident in the loving hands caring for him. Our commitment is to nurse him to health, shower him with affection, and ensure a wonderful life ahead!
Gregory’s Fresh Beginning
Upon securing Gregory’s safety, the Kirks sought veterinary assistance to address his heartworm ailment.
Shortly after beginning his treatment, they listed Gregory for adoption, and it wasn’t long before he found a home. A family was eager to welcome him, and soon Gregory settled into his permanent abode.
Today, Gregory thrives with his adoptive family and relishes the companionship of a new beagle friend.
Schenley shares a poignant reflection: We’re frequently inquired about the count of dogs we’ve rescued. The persistent thought is, we’ve rescued ‘just one more’. One additional dog is secure, bathed in the love and respect they’re fully worthy of.
One more canine will benefit from proper nutrition and crucial medical attention. One more dog will bask in the warmth of a permanent, affectionate home. There are few feelings more rewarding or actions more gratifying in life.
