Puffy-Cheeked Dog Left Tied To Fence Reveals A Beautiful Face After Rescue

In Spring 2019, Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL) received an urgent call about a dog in distress, tied to a fence. The rescue team was immediately concerned, but the severity of the situation only became clear upon their arrival.

The dog they found, later named Marco, had severely swollen cheeks, his face ballooned to five times its normal size due to untreated wounds. This heartbreaking condition was described in a Facebook post by SRSL.

When the team found Marco, he was in dire need of help. Despite his pain, he showed a glimmer of hope upon seeing the rescuers. They discovered his body was riddled with infections, a result of his neglect and possible involvement in dog fighting.

SRSL immediately began treating Marco, who had become septic. He spent months in their clinic, receiving IV treatments, antibiotics, and other medications to fight off the infection and restore his health.

Throughout his recovery, Marco displayed an incredible spirit of resilience and love. He continually showed affection and trust towards humans, a remarkable trait given his past experiences.

Miraculously, Marco made a complete recovery. The once unrecognizable dog now revealed his true, handsome face. After his health was restored, Marco was placed in foster care with Katie, who fell in love with him and soon made the adoption official.

Now, Marco enjoys a life full of love and comfort with Katie and other SRSL dogs. His days are filled with joy, from stealing blankets to watching the neighborhood from his favorite window.
