Mama Horse And Adoptive Foal Bond After Loss Brings Them Together

Tragic Loss Leads to New Love for Mare and Her Adopted Foal

Let me tell you about this Friesian horse, Queen Uniek. She’s a stunner with her shiny black coat and flowing mane, right out of a fairy tale. Her owner, Yvonne, was ecstatic when Queen Uniek was about to have her first foal.

But, oh boy, the labor was tough. Queen Uniek was in so much pain, and something wasn’t right. The vet found out the foal was positioned wrong, and despite everyone’s best efforts, the little colt didn’t make it. Yvonne and Uniek were heartbroken.

Yvonne even shared this heartbreaking story on her YouTube channel, calling the lost colt “Star.” But then, something incredible happened the next day.

Yvonne’s friend Eef called her about an orphaned foal whose mother had passed away. This little one needed a mom, and maybe, just maybe, Queen Uniek could fill that role.

When Queen Uniek first saw the colt, it was like magic. She started calling to him, her heart open to this new little life. The team watched as the foal began to nurse, and it was clear – Uniek had accepted him as her own. They named him Rising Star.

This story turned from tragedy to joy. Queen Uniek and her adopted son, Rising Star, found happiness after their losses. Yvonne was amazed by the bond they formed.

Fast forward two years, and they’re still inseparable, living happily with Yvonne in the Netherlands. For more of their story, check out Friesian Horses on YouTube.
