89-Year-Old Woman Has Knitted 450 Blankets & Sweaters For Shelter Dogs

89-Year-Old Knits Over 400 Cozy Gifts for Shelter Dogs

So, you know how some people just have a knack for making the world a bit warmer? Well, let me tell you about Maisie Green, a total sweetheart at 89, who’s been knitting like a champ for the furry friends at the Dogs Trust Basildon shelter.

Maisie’s got this incredible tally of around 450 snuggly blankets and sweaters under her belt, all for the dogs waiting to find their forever homes. It’s her way of wrapping them up in a little love and warmth.

“I just adore knitting and dogs, so why not mix the two?” Maisie shared with the Basildon Standard. “Give me three days and I’ll whip up a blanket, or just a day for a doggy coat.”

Three times a year, Maisie loads up her car, with a little help from her family, and drops off her latest batch of knitwear at the shelter. Dogs like Daniel the Spaniel have been lucky to snuggle in these cozy gifts.

Maisie keeps herself busy with her knitting, often while catching up on her favorite TV shows. “Knowing I’m doing my bit for these four-legged cuties at the center just feels great,” she said.

And hey, a little shoutout to Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity. They’re doing amazing work with 20 Rehoming Centres and taking care of over 16,000 dogs every year that need a little extra love and care.”
