Smokey was a beloved dog who lived happily with his family and favorite stuffed elephant toy. At age five, his family faced financial struggles and had to make the tough decision to surrender him to a shelter. Life in the shelter caused Smokey anxiety, and he clung to his elephant for comfort.
His anxiety led to difficulty finding a new home; potential adopters were met with fear and growling. Smokey was placed on the un-adoptable list, putting his life at risk.
The shelter reached out to I Have A Dream rescue organization, who saved Smokey just in time and provided a foster home. In his new environment, Smokey’s stress vanished, and he became adoptable once more.
